Q&A #16: Oklahoma education
It's clear our current path needs change. We need to try out multi ideas in hopes of finding a way of improving educational outcomes for Oklahoma students. I think any community that's willing to take on this challenge should be empowered to do so. We should give those communities ample authority to make changes to curriculum, structure or just about anything else, so long as the wellbeing of students is protected. We need to collect data in order to compare results from the various schools to find what works best in a specific case/circumstance. Parents must take an active role in ensuring their children are positioned for success. Teachers cannot teach lessons and control the behavior of students that refuse to behave.
Fortunately we have the internet where learning anything is possible. I hope every child is able to realize their full potential.
Personally, I have two children both homeschooled. I have challenged them to get their G.E.D. as soon as possible.
